Long version (so you understand my thought process): I have researched this for a while but cannot find a straightforward answer anywhere online. I will not even connect it to the internet whenever I can avoid it.
I also want it to be able to handle some video editing, but it will be primarily used for music.
Is the second-tier $700 version (2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB hard drive) good enough to use without regretting my purchase? To clarify, I want to be able to do as many music-related tasks as possible such as recording live instruments, creating electronic music with MIDI controllers, mixing, sampling, etc.
